● Program Overview
What You’ll Learn
Skills2Stars provides children and young people with free, hands-on training, mentorship, and the opportunity to learn practical, income-generating skills such as hair styling, video storytelling, book writing, book publishing, commercial cooking, and baking. By connecting them with experienced professionals, the program helps them discover their talents, build confidence, and understand that practical skills and education work hand in hand to create opportunities and prepare them for a successful future.
Program Structure
The Skills2Stars program runs over five weeks, with two sessions held each week on August 1–2, August 8–9, August 15–16, August 29–30, and September 5–6. This structured approach gives participants consistent opportunities to develop practical skills, apply what they learn in real-world scenarios, collaborate with peers, and build confidence throughout the program.
What’s Included
Tuition covers all program materials, from paints and clay to instruments and costumes, so campers can create freely without added costs. Three meals a day are served in the dining hall, alongside snacks, field trips, and evening campfires. Campers live in cozy cabins with new friends, cared for by attentive staff.
Session Lengths
Each session lasts 2 to 4 hours and combines interactive workshops, practical demonstrations, hands-on learning activities, mentorship talks with industry professionals, and both individual and team-based projects
Age Groups
Skills2Stars is designed exclusively for teens aged 12 to 17, a stage when young people are developing their interests, confidence, and future aspirations. Focusing on this age group allows the program to deliver age-appropriate, hands-on learning experiences that encourage creativity, responsibility, and problem-solving.
